Dalcroze 2008 Eurythmics Summer Workshops -
Improve Musicianship, Discover New Ideas

Week 1: July 28 - Aug 1, 2008 - Dalcroze Eurhythmics:  A Firm Foundation
Week 2: Aug 4 - 8, 2008 - Dalcroze Eurhythmics: Balancing Body, Mind and Spirit
9am - 4pm Each Day

The principles of Emile Jaques-Dalcroze will be presented this summer at the University of Washington School of Music. There will be classes in Eurhythmics, Sight-singing, and Improvisation (piano skills are not necessary). This is an intensive course – six hours a day – with opportunities to try teaching a la Dalcroze, as well as participate in all the activities. It is, indeed, an active course which will lead you through ways to expand your sensitivity to music and fellow musicians (as in ensemble playing) and expand your ways of teaching. The central idea in Eurhythmics is to balance mind, body and emotions so that our music-making becomes expressive and fulfilling.

This program can lead to Dalcroze Certification by accumulating hours this summer in preparation, but there will be no exams given this year.
